Ok so have not been home for awhile bu got out to the barn this past weekend and started cleaning up the engine. Pretty sure the turbo was leaking as the valley was full of oil and the orings on the pedestal were not seated.

Need to get an oil pan order and replace that since the engine is out and then finish cleaning up the bottom of the block. There was a gasket leak on the current pan and it is about rusted through.

That's more like it. Those orings are known for going out and the oil pans rotting away. If you're going to be driving it in the winter do yourself a favor and have it line Xed. It may have been mentioned but do you know if you have PMRs or forged rods yet?

It's a 2000 so I believe they are forged. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

There's no guarantee. The only way to know 100% is to look.

Mine are forged. And yes, had to look. Which made me thirsty.

Parts ordered XDP had a 10% off sale and also do the -$5 price match so i got a discount from them and ended up with everything for around $240. Hopefully it all get here and I can try and get this swapped in this weekend and be a little close to getting it all back together.

Ok so getting some more work done on the build.

Quick question.... I am cleaning up and using rust reformer on the frame should I leave it the flat black that it lays down as or spray it with a gloss chassis black?

I'd paint it with something. A lot of the rust converter paints fade out and/or get chalky after a while.

Got some good work done on the truck this past weekend.

Toyman and I got my trans over to the shop to get the output shafts swapped out and have some valvebody upgrades done on Saturday morning.

Decided to go ahead and put a few coats of black enamel on the frame just to seal it up and make her last. Didn't turn out too bad not a fan of the gloss but wont see it anyway.

Fedex and UPS made their respective deliveries throughout the week so I had the new oil pan, gasket, and dipstick to install so I decided to tackle that.

Got the old pan off and the surface cleaned of all the old RTV that was left and started taking a peak inside.

Hello forged rods!! and nice to see some cross hatch on the cylinders still.

Since the Moroso gasket is thicker it came with studs for the block to replace the pans mounting bolts.

Once all the studs setup with the thread locker I got the new reusable gasket and pan mounted up good as new.

Next part I started to tackle is the new underhood wiring harness install.

Got most of it hooked back in and ready to go.

Finally I decided to replace the left valve cover due to it starting to rust and separate on me. Wasn't leaking yet but just to be sure.

Once the cover came off I was greeted by what appears to be all original sticks! AD1831551C1 and 55109497XXX where all XXX are within 100 of eachother. From driving the truck home and running tests before engine pull I know they are still running strong.

Ordered a brand new valve cover that should be here this weekend to replace it.

Also placed an order from Clay for the turbo install kit and new doghouse seals as well as my new A-pillar pod. So i should have another round of updates this coming weekend to install and get that much closer.

This is how its sitting now.

Have you considered new uvh's? If they look good I'd probably at least do a fifty cent mod.

I'd coat that new pan with something other than the factory coating. That factory coating seems to be the problem with the pans rusting in the first place.

Swap is looking good!
