4x4 oil pan replacement

this sucks, oil pan is rusted through, got a hole near the bottom.

doing some searching shows that i can lift up the engine enough to pull the pan without pulling the engine out, if the oil pickup is unbolted.

summit lists the only compatible gasket as the FEL-17997, which is a marine gasket? anyone got a better part# for the gasket

all the bolts are rusty, so i will be changing those also, anyone know the size?

What else should i be prepared to replace?

truck is a 1995 302 4x4 btw

I wonder if you did something wrong in your search. I see a total of 13 gaskets (including the one you mentioned) on summit racing for the motor specs you provided. http://www.summitracing.com/search/p...rder=Ascending

I know you didn't ask this part but I will add that I have heard of people wanting to replace the oil pan gasket w/o removing the motor on a 4x4 and yes, it's doable and yes, it's difficult. The most difficult part of it I heard was making sure the gasket is in it's proper place. With the little amount of working room you need to make sure this is perfect before you start bolting things together.

I just replaced mine last summer just in the driveway replacing it wasn't bad at all and as far as getting the gasket to stay in place while you put the new pan on I ended up using some very thin wire through a few of the holes in the oil pan and using a small pick to get everything perfect. It worked out really well. Good luck!
