2 stroke oil in fuel tank.

After reading a lot of threads about this I tried it this weekend. It does make the injectors quieter on my truck. I added a 16 oz bottle of supertech from Walmart at my fill up. Almost 200 miles on the tank and the noise level is lower. I have not noticed any change in MPG or power. Thought i would throw it out there for anyone thinking about doing it.

I have been doing this for about 1,000 miles also and I am really impressed with the results. The wolly world supertech stuff works fine but I bought a bottle of amsoil full synthetic a while back and that seems to work even better. For anyone else doing this, make sure to use a TCW3 rated 2 stroke oil.

Any idea if it's beneficial (or will cause problems) to do the 2-stroke thing in addition to Diesel Kleen or other additives?

From all the reading I have done on here i have not seen any bad results. except for more expense from all of the additives...

Nope, I try to add about 10 oz of 2stroke oil to a full tank of fuel then I either add 4 oz of antigel additive in winter or ford cetane booster in summer along with it.

Cool... I've got 16 oz of the Hot Shot Secret fuel cleaner in my tank right now, but I think with my next fillup I'll start using 2-stroke. I've heard lots of good things about it and no bad, to my knowledge.

Anyone pull a sample of fuel after doing a 1 oz per gallon?
It's Smurf Blue. The sound that your not hearing is the intensifier
piston returning to the top of the stroke. With the oil in the fuel
it slides just a bit better instead of popping back.

Here is a HEUI injector that has been disassembled. It the earlier
7.3 but you can get an idea from the parts he has labeled.
TikiWiki : H.E.U.I Injector Disassembly and Assembly

I'll try to find one from a 6.0 and post that.

I did it for a while in my 04 truck and it quietend the truck never saw a mpg benefit from it. I had a problem logically using diesel kleen every tank though. To me it was like adding a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in at every tank for a gas engine which made me think if that is the cure surely im getting bad fuel. Which im not. With the 06 it was fairly quiet amd I didnt see as much of a noise benifit by using 2 stroke oil. There was a study where they compared additives that will likely show up in a few post about this. Basically diesel kleen either did nothing or hindered lubrication to the diesel fuel. Meaning it is only really good as a cleanser for cutting gunk not helping prolong the injector life.

I thought the idea was to add cetane, that is the reason for using additives.

And to add lubrication back into the fuel. Removing the sulfur caused that

Hmmmm, so use both a 2 stroke and a cetane booster then?

Or use neither... what are you gaining from the use of the additives

Right now I am running both.
The TCW3 2-cycle oil and PM22a.

The oil does not do anything other than quiet the injector clatter.
The PM22a seems to lower the amount of soot that I find in the
EGR valve. That was before I had it turned off with a tune,
Now it stays clean all the time.

One thing we night see in the long term use of the oil is less injector
wear in the fuel side of the injector. But to really tell you would have
to disassemble the injectors and do an inspection.
