Need a new pan gasket?

So my transmission is leaking, it doesn't look like its coming from the front of the transmission but its wet around the pan gasket and drips off the pan, all the bolts are tight so would I be correct in saying the gasket needs to be replaced?

Most likely.... that's what was going on with mine. I got a filter and gasket and fluid. Changed it all.... no more leak

Don't over tighten those trans bolts, that will make them leak for sure.

Ok guys I cannot win... I replaced the gasket and the filter while I was in there. I add fluid till it read on the cold side started it up took a short (I mean short) drive around the parking lot I stop check the fluid obviously it was low so I add and check and add and check until its the right level I drive it a few miles down the road stop check it, no reading on the hot side so I add and check until its good again, I get home check the fluid again and its not reading again so I repeat the add and check process and then it was good so I shut my truck off and crawl underneath... spewing fluid from between the gasket and pan. I tightened the closest 3 bolts to it until it stopped then checked the torque on the rest of them, 100in/lbs like I had read it was I started the truck up and went through the gears parked it and it doesn't seem to be leaking but im worried its going to again when I start driving again.... its a rubber gasket if that counts for anything... help me figure out this please..

The gasket I've had the best luck with is the reusable one that came stock on these pans. If your using the flat rubber one you get with the filter, they are hard to seal. To find a stock reusable one is also hard to find.

Well i found one straight from ford... wont work on my tranny... my pan has the raised dimples if you will on the gasket surface side on the bolt holes i bolted it all up and i could visibly see it wasnt sealing the holes in the gasket arent big enough to go around the "dimples"

Sounds like your pan has been over tightened and needs to be flattened.

Well I had to go to ford today to yell at them about some service I paid for that wasn't done which come to find out ended up it never got put on the RO to be done so I ended up not getting charged for it so they took care of the pan gasket for me to make up for it!
