Remote starter switch thought

Remote starter switch thought
Hi,
I might try this sometime, but I wondered what you guys thought.
Plan is to make a remote starter switch ( wired) that fits over the ignition switch. Current ones require you to find someplace to tap into the wiring -- an increasingly difficult thing to do.
But, I thought that you could have a slotted piece that would slip over the key. I'm thinking that you could rotate it with a solenoid hooked up through a spring -- to prevent damage to the key switch.
You'd clamp the whole gizmo over the steering column, and probably power it from the (former) cigarette lighter plug.
Comments?
Thanks,
hj

Nothing wrong with thinking outside the box. But that contraption would have to be big and powerful to rotate the key switch. Some potential issues: if the solenoid got stuck in the on position you would need to quickly get out there and manually remove the contraption to keep from burning up the starter motor or grinding the flywheel plate teeth. Also, if you're driving on the road and the solenoid flakes out and decides to return to home position wont that turn off the ignition?...if it does wont that lock the steering wheel so you wouldn't be able to pull off to the side of the road?

Thanks for the thoughts cigarman.
I'm really thinking of a temprary hookup to clamp on for troubleshooting etc -- the same way you use the jumper wire remotes. Do you think that it has to be that powerful? -- we're just talking about moving the switch from on to start.
Oh well, if I ever get any ambition, maybe I'll build one up .
