2004 Ford e350 V10 Engine Making noise..

2004 Ford e350 V10 Engine Making noise..

Hello All!

Someone on youtube said it could be a plastic baffle that broke due to low quality underneath passenger side valve cover
vigorously maintained . 150,000 miles.

Any suggestions? Im living in this van due the economy...
Thank you in advance!

Whom ever finds the problem or assists whole heartily I promise a free vehicle history report.

That PCV baffle has plastic rivets that break off and allow the baffle to move around the valve train. This can cause damage. I would remove the valve cover and pull the baffle out for now until you can repair it. Valve covers are on national back order. Check the looseness of the timing chain while you are in there.

No, that is the grommet that holds the PCV valve in. The baffle is inside the VC and deflects oil from being sucked into the PCV valve.

thanks Jesse5, how would I go about taking the cover off or just a bit of it? What does the PVC vavle look like I cant find a picture.

I assembled about 50 Toyota engines working at a company in Canada so hopefully I can figure it out.

Do you think he could pull the pvc valve and feel for the splash guard with a screwdriver? Shouldnt be much more than an inch below the top of the cover i'd think

I dont know if yours is like mine, but the pvc valve is about in the middle of the passenger side, it just pushes into a rubber grommet on the valve cover, under the valve cover is like a shield, which is what apparently can come loose from the cover itself and bounce around on your valves when running

You need to get a mechanic to do it. If you continue to operate the engine and there is an object floating around the valve train it could cause a valve to drop and ruin the engine.
