Getting the truck with it is definitely the way to go.

So I've been working on fixing some broken plastic panels with epoxy and reinforcing them with fiberglass lately. I got everything epoxied tonight so I'll fiberglass in the morning and hopefully have some pictures up tomorrow of the process I used.

Here are some long over due pictures. I've been busy with an elk hunting trip and now deer season is going on so I haven't been doing a whole lot for the truck. The floor pan and cab corners are in now as well.

I took the set of trim panels for the back of the cab and did some repairing to them. I glued the crack with epoxy, scuffed the back when it was dry with 80 grit sandpaper and laid down three layers of fiberglass over it. The panel is pretty strong now but I think I might fiberglass a bigger area just to strengthen it some more and try to prevent it from cracking again.

The cab corners were installed with panel adhesive. I ended up deciding the only way to stay on my schedule was to have a local shop do the panel replacement. Life got in the way this past summer but things are looking like they are getting sorted out now. I was a little unimpressed with the floor pan though because there are sections that aren't completely welded so I will have to finish that off on my own and to fix the rust on the kick panel they just welded in an angled slab which closed off the seam for the kick panel and floor. I may cut that down the bend and grind it smooth so that seam is still there. It seemed a little rushed through.

That's a brown and tan truck on the cover of the 79 sales brochure. The lighting in the picture makes it look yellow. I have only seen one picture of a truck with the yellow/brown scheme besides mine. I have it on another computer, I'll post it when I'm on that computer.

I need some help finding the clips for a piece of trim. The body shop that replaced my cab corners threw out the clips for the metal trim on the bottom of the cab corners and I can't seem to find a place to buy them. They are smaller pieces than the race track trim clips but I'm not sure if the cab corner pieces are plastic clips too or not. Anyone have any idea on where to get these clips?

Here's a picture of the trim I'm talking about.

Except for the screw on the rear end of the trim, I would guess it's similar to the clips for the rest of the racetrack trim. LMC (and others I'm sure) carry the clips.

What screw are you talking about? This piece goes on the absolute very bottom of the cab, any farther and you'd have to attach it under the floor.

My mistake. I didn't look close enough and though it was the racetrack trim.

I didn't even realize that there was a trim piece there until now. I went out and looked and it appears the trim has three studs on the back that fit in slots in the cab panel and are secured with nuts.

Without taking it apart, I cant tell how the studs are attached to the back of the trim. It's wet and dark out right now, but tomorrow I'll try to take some pictures, or see if the trim will come off with out a ton of work.

. I think I'd get rid of anything that requires mounting holes through the body metal...

I didn't know it was there either until the body shop handed them to me. I'll have to take a look at my other supercab and see if I can figure it out too.

I thought about that at first but it looks weird and wrong without it on there. It looks like it's missing something which is probably why it's there. It continues the body line along the cab bottom.

I just went out and looked at my other supercab. There's 3 nuts on the back of that trim piece so I dug through the box of clips and stuff from the body shop and found these 6 little clips with nuts on them so I'm thinking these must be what I'm looking for.

Those are definitely it. Three each side, middle and ends.

You're right that it wouldn't look correct with out them. The trim continues the line of the rocker under the door. Just another metal sandwich waiting to rust.......

[/QUOTE]Just for fun I took it out for the first time in a while today to take this picture. My dad's 76 taken back in 79 and my 78 today. Same place just 35 years apart. For those who saw my thread about finding my dads truck I'm still working on buying it back from the current owners.
