There are not any known wiring problems with those trucks. Previous owners and their modifications are usually the culprit.

Here are some diagrams that the previous poster mentioned

. Those look exactly like the ones in the Haynes manuals. They leave a bit to be desired when it comes to connector location and there are usually some mystery wires...

You are correct. But they are free. I guess you get what you pay for. Look at Service Manuals, Owner Manuals, Wiring Diagrams, Service Bulletins - Helm Incorporated for the factory diagrams or look on ebay. I think the last time I set someone to helminc they said they were out of stock on the ones they wanted.

Bishko (Bishko Books, Repair Manuals, Owners Manuals, Parts Books & Sales Brochures) is another great source for manuals and wiring diagrams. They are a factory authorized reprinter. As an example, the wiring diagrams for the OP's truck are $24.95. Here is the link to the diagrams:

1987 FORD F-100 to F-350 TRUCK Wiring Diagrams

Note that these diagrams are the factory diagrams. They are printed on 11x17 paper, and once you get the hang of reading them, they are easy to follow.

I purchased the parts manual for my truck through them and was quite pleased with what I received.
