You have to figure the buyer demo for 2014+ is not the enthusiast. It is the type of buyer that will seek out a forum only when have an issue they want to either research or cry about. The kind of people that are used to driving appliances... (Toyota/Honda/Hyundai)

I was closed to pulling the trigger on a loaded white titanium (gush!), but I decided to get a fiesta for now to hopefully get back into an F-150 after my truck got totaled. But yeah they are selling like mad, but mainly to the appliance drivers, not the enthusiasts.
I didn't know this thread was on here till my wife bought a 14.
then I stumbled on to it.
Your right not much activity...... Guess that's good in a way !
Since FEB 2014 my wife's Escape with the 2.5 has not missed a beat. One recall and the dealer struggled to figure out why the software update jacked up the clock. Other than that, no issues. I installed a Hidden Hitch class III hitch and did the wiring using an Etrailer.com direct wiring kit. Great install videos available on that one. Did one oil change and rotated the tires DIY. This thing is pretty simple. Now about that battery access....
Interesting phenomenon about new car buyers... yes... typical demographic may be the appliance buyer... and that goes for all vehicles. But there are some like myself who bought the new car for the wife (happy wife, happy life, minimum hassle for a few years) while they continue to work on their daily driver and the project in the garage. Forums are great. I contributed hundreds of posts on Benzworld.org when I had a MB. I look forward to getting involved with a Ford forum. Unfortunately there are many to choose from so the contributor input gets diluted. Eventually I'll figure out who has the most info on 13 or 14 Escapes and that is the site that will get used.
Wife has a 2013 2.0 escape se front wheel drive, it don't lack for power, stuffed the long skinny peddle once and had to hang on, torque steer makes it a little interesting, I think this vehicle acts a lot more expensive than it is!
When we were at the dealership taking test drives for her 2014 Escape, we took the small motor (1.5 or 1.6) for a drive after we took the 2.0 out. When she was deciding on which color and car she wanted, my only comment was, "we are getting the fun 2.0". This car is a blast to drive.
