2003 4.0 130,00 miles only had it a few months. Notice that it has a miss or stumble when idling. Were to start to troubleshoot the problem? Not sure when wires or plugs are any of that have been replaced. Would the computer show a code for this problem? Thanks for any advise.

Check the harmonic balancer first they are known to come apart on these.

 

Does this affect the crank position? Just wondering what the relationship is to the problem.

 

No it does not. What is does is cause a vibration at idle and it feels like a rough idle from the rubber separating from the dampner.

 

Intake manifold gasket leaks are pretty common on the 4.0L as well and would cause a vacuum leak, leading to a rough idle.
