Radio placement
My wife's truck is ready for the road and she will be driving it to work and around town. The issue I have is she wants a radio that has FM and can play her Ipod. It's easy to find the radio; but where can I put it. She does not want the dash cut and she does not want the old radio removed, plus she wants to be able to operate it from the driving postion. In the 25 years I have been with this woman I have never told her NO. I need some help with this problem.

doesn't want to cut dash, I like her already. Mine was already cut from PO
under dash, seat or in glove box, maybe build a console?? I think they may have radios with a wired LED "eye" for operation with a remote if placed in glove box-thats all I can think of...

this is what I want to put in my 60 crew cab project
Radio Conversion Products: FMC-1 FM Tuner (FM Mono) The FMC-1 is very small and unobtrusive, so small in fact that it can be mounted entirely in the head of a 1953-1959 Ford F100 radio. The FMC-1 can be used in all installations with a working radio.
$385.00
I have the radio under the seat in my 54 ,works well, wireless remote.
But a pain to change cd's

Most car stereo shops sell a plastic underdash box that looks neat & tidy and accepts most standard din mount car stereos. the boxes are around 14 bucks and there are plenny' of inexpensive stereos out there with input jacks & mp3 capabilities. those original radio fm conversion units can be ek-spenssss-ivvve! also a set of 6x9's mounted in the doors sound great, lotsa bass response & you don't gotta worry bout' cutting holes in the removable panels cuz there's lots out there to be had.
( I even put hinges and catches on mine & use the inside of the doors for storing extra litres of oil & stuff. )
I tried to post pics of the stereo box on my truck but couldn't get it to work. pm me if you want I can send ya the pics economan(at)Hotmail.com

The guy I was thinking of is at S/M Electro-Tech in Blaine, Mn. The basic conversion cost is $385, which is more than a $14 underdash box, but the ability to keep the unique round head, and have it function, is worth something.
I haven't used the guy (Greg?), but I did meet him at a swap meet (Iola) and he seemed to be a straight shooter.
A quick Google search shows a couple of other outfits who do a similar upgrade for old radios, but I don't know if they do the round style that came in these old trucks.
