HPOP spit out another oring!

Well about year ago the HPOP spit out the oring on the end plug. no leaks until this last week i was coming home and as I was unloaded the kids I saw the puddle and drove it in the back yard. I traced my path and it probably leaked for at least a mile.

Now why is the HPOP spitting out orings? Do i need to upgrade it? I haven't fixed it yet, i'm leaning towards buying a new one. I really don't like it breaking down, the wife would kill me if it stranded our family. Is there something else that could be going on that would cause the HPOP to do this?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Did you buy just the o-ring or the end plug repair kit that comes with a plug with deeper threads?

I only changed the oring.
Is there a issue with the bolt?

No. I'm thinking of the "non-serviceable" bolt, not the one you're messing with.

But on the end plug you are dealing with, the key to a successful replacement is having the threads completely clean and using some loctite on the threads.

Here's some info for you. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...fferently.html

Were the threads SPOTLESSLY clean, ABSOLUTELY oil-free?

Did you use the LocTite PRECISELY as instructed?

If not, your o-ring will leak again, because the LocTite is what actually does the sealing, and you are relying on the o-ring to do it. It won't do the job.

I followed your instructions along with advice from guzzle when I ordered everything. I'm not sure what loctite I bought from him. At the time I was absolutely sure it was done right. But knowing my luck and by the sound of everyone saying it needs to be 110% clean then I'm guessing I missed something.

Acetone and Q-tips, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Not the slightest hint of oil still coming out of the hole.

The plug also gets soaked and brushed with acetone.

Brake-Klean actually has some small amount of petroleum residue.

It sounds like you tried, though...........

you know i would be a ton happier if someone would have said that the canipler valve should be adjusted. not happy to hear that i didn't do a good job.

Oh well. thank you for getting me on track and saving me from myself. almost bought the TE500 for riffraff.

I'll just go buy another oring kit.

Be absolutely certain that you don't loosen or tighten (move in any way) that plug after the LocTite has set up.

Breaking the LocTite's seal will cause another leak eventually.

when i do one i let it drain for several hours then clean then let drain again for 2 more hours then clean again and it should stay oil free. not letting it drain out for a long time will make them leak. dont ask how i know.
