I've had "limo" on a lot of my vehicles including commercial trucks and I have never gotten a ticket for illegal tint. An old friend had his windshield tinted, (big no-no), and the cop told him start scraping or call a tow truck. USUALLY, Florida is a little forgiving due to the heat and sun down here. It's more than likely you getting pulled over for doing something stupid....then he'll give you an additional ticket for window tint. Then I guess there are cases of Mr. Officer just taking his job WAY too serious and has an overactive pen!!
Anyway, you can get good, high quality tint and still block heat and some light and be legal. Watch the rules for each state as they vary greatly.
Here is a handy vehicle viewer from LLumar that will give you an idea of what you vehicle will look like.

This is no longer true. There is a newish tint out that works well with defrosters. The name isn't coming to me, I'll ask my buddy who does audio/tint for a living what it is tomorrow (assuming I don't forget ).
