6.2L was built to tow
I only got my 2011 6.2l at the end of dec. After trading in my 2006 6.0l diesel. I was a bit worried the 6.2 would struggle towing my 8k lbs wildwood travel trailer. When I bought the truck I had done my research of reviewing this board and everybody said it would tow fine. Well not sure why I had any doubts. Hooked up the trailer to bring it to the repair shop only about 11 miles away but the route has a few good hills.
6.2l had no problem pulling the trailer. Going up the hills pulled at 55mph in 3rd gear at around 3100rpms. The transmission with the shifting on the fly is awesome when towing. So,to allwho ever doubted the reviews don't cause this engine/tranny loves to work.
Can't say the same driving around town. The tranny constantly shifting and if u are just putting along getting to 6th gear by 50mph is ridiculous.
By im totaling happy the reason we have the f250 is for our trailer and it did its job well.

personally I like the 6th spd tranny on this truck,, it blows away my old 5.4 SD I had before. Obviusly the faster to 6th the lower rpm's and better mpg's..But I like that you can lock out a gear manually, huge plus w/o going to tow/haul mode like my old truck...Thanks for your feedback, I got a 14 6.2L, winter/snow has kept the boat in the garage but as soon as it breaks I am hooking it up and gonna see how she handles compared to the EB I traded in to get this..

First long distance tow report
Took my travel trailer out to the beach. Route from shingle springs ca to bodega bay is about180 miles. Forgot to check tripometer when I parked last night. But took three hours. Went thru city traffic, over a couple hills. 6.2 did awesome. Pulled most the hills at 50+mph.. couple of the longer ones it dropped to 2nd to maintain 40mph... cruise control set on 62mph and 6th locked out... 6.2 was AWESOME. loaded right now I am probably around 7200 lbs and I hardly even knew it was behind me.

On my truck there are up and down arrows on my shifter and when you push one, 1 ~ 6 shows up under spedo and when you hit down arrow again 6 will go out then 5 and so on. Only gears lit up will work in auto, it will also show what gear your in.

What we have found works when not in big hills or mountains is set the cruise control with the transmission in D and let the computer downshift the tranny when needed. It will run in 6th most of the time and downshift to 5th or 4th when needed, the CC remains set even with the down shifts. The wife likes to run it that way but I still like the manual mode. My truck has 4.30 gears with 17 in tires.

Hi denny!
Thas wat I did today towing home. Towed soooo well I blew one of the tire straight off the trailer 20 minutes from home.
Then after spare was on tried pulling big long hill at 60 and I saw trans temp syarting to climb... that one was my own fault for trying to pull big hill at 60. Gotta get out of my diesel habits.
Well after 6 hrs of towing... gotta say 6.2 was built to tow. Nice and smooth until my tire blew on the rig.

so do many of you guys run the E-85 fuel or run just straight gas? Im really thinking hard on trading in my 6.4 diesel I love how it tows tons of power but i just dont run it enough only about 1.5 miles from home to work and this is my daily driver. I like getting 12-14 towing my 5er but with all the extra cost it might not be worth the difference in the end.
