what to keep in your truck?
what do you all keep in your truck for those emergancy situations.
so far this is what i have
Road flairs
30k breaking strength tow strap
twisted D shackle
set of screw drivers
large mechanic set of sockets
us standard and metric wrenches
extra 1 inch self drilling pan head screws
fire extinguisher
electrical tape
vise grips
speaker wire
knife
gloves
carhartt jacket
fuses
and most importantly a AAA gold membership
anything else to consider?
i dont keep a spare tire or a jack because i dont go offroading and the tire would take up too much room. The truck is used to haul large ammounts of construction materials often and a tire takes up too much bed space

An assemblage copied from an old thread:
Extra parts: Ignition control module, a starter solenoid, fuel filter, fuses.
Tools: Basic tool set like sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, dikes, long nose pliers, etc. LED flashlight or wearable light. Tire repair kit (for a 4x4).
Stuff: Fire extinguisher, jumper cables, automotive wire, bailing wire, duct tape. Two quarts of oil and one gallon of coolant mix.
Stuff: add a pile of zip ties (they have saved my *** more than once), a flashlight, and a tow strap. If you have the room a small electrical repair kit butt connectors male and female terminals etc. Also a well stocked box of spare fuses and a spare fuse able link.
Multimeter or at least a test light.
spare tire with correct socket or star wrench and adequate jack with handle to change a tire (not all these old trucks still have the original or correct tools for changing a flat)
Small adjustable crescent wrench
screw drivers
wd40-can use to get moisture out of distributor cap
rags
bailing wire/zip ties/duct tape
coil
fuses
jumper cables
fire extinguisher
pen and paper-might need to write down part numbers
cell phone
a real bottle jack
hammer
1-2 driveline u-joints and extra straps/clips/u-bolts
couple feet of 3/8" fuel hose, 3/8" oil hose, vacuum hose and corresponding hose clamps

I have my alice pack (bob). More on the survival aspect than I am mechanic.
I'd like to see pics of how you guys are storing these things. Lots of room under that hood..

I have minimal stuff in my vehicles, but my brother who up till a few years ago didn't own anything outside of the 70's, carried lots of car parts and tools. We were going somewhere once and the carb caught on fire. We got it out quickly. As we are sitting on the side of the road I am wondering what we are gonna do. He pops the trunk, gets out a wrench and a freshly rebuilt carb. He said you never know what you are gonna need on these old cars.
Anyways, if you replace engine parts, such as belts rotor cap carb, it is a good idea to take the usable old ones and clean up and put in the truck. Instead of mixed coolant, I would take a gallon of water. Just incase you are really stuck out there, something you and the truck can drink.
I bought a couple of nice channel lock tool sets that were on clearance. Will be putting one of these in truck when I start driving it more. Also have a pretty good selection of tools in the camper, which is where my truck will be doing most of its major driving. Fixed brakes on my buddies tow rig a few years back with those crappy tools.
I have a truck tool box for my 74 F100, am thinking now about a couple ammo cans under the hood.

I have a full socket set, wrenches, screwdrivers, wiring pliers, a few spare relays, fire extinguisher, cigarette lighter phone charger, lighter, matches, 5 gallon can of diesel, HD jumper cables, recovery strap, baseball bat, pocket knife, chain, funnel, motor oil, coolant, power steering, brake fluid, my old set of injectors, some old return line caps and lines. I keep most of that locked up in the tool box in my bed.

I have a toolbox in my truck full of all of my tools(no where else to store them). An assortment of belts, fluids, and electrical components. The most helpful thing I keep in my truck is my on board air system. Superflow mv50, 5 gallon harbor freight air tank and it cost under $300 finished. It has enough oomph to run an impact wrench for a short while or re-seat the tire on the dump truck and fill it up to 60 psi in a short amount of time. That system in combination with a tire repair kit and a AAA premium membership and a spare tire is never needed. Compressed air is one of the most helpful things I have ever had on my truck.

Is this so you can beat your truck?!!!!
