I am in Europe, but I am would like to buy a camper for my truck. The shipping to Europe is 1700 dollars, so I thought to find a decently priced F150 or F250 extended cab, 4x4, long bed, the engine does not matter, bull or brick, preferably I6 300 and ship both for one price. I can't find much on the CL, I decided to ask local guys. It has to have title, it does not need to be tagged.
I know CA is going through hell with the virus, as well as us in Europe, it just looks the virus is going to be around for a while. Looks like the borders in Europe will be closed for maybe a year, I just thought why not to get a camper and get to travel within the country.
Thanks
Jan

I don't think travelling around isn't going to work soon. They are starting to put checkpoints on state and border crossings. If you drove around the continent in a camper, they'd probably stop you in a place, and force you to stay there. Might as well save your money and invest in long-term necessities instead.

I'm in LA. I think a 300 would be underpowered for a camper unless you're only doing fairly low speeds and no hills. I'm assuming a true camper with living amenities, not just a simple shell to enclose the bed. Also consider emissions compliance. I don't know the laws in Europe, but my understanding is that emissions compliance is a big deal.

The truck would be for my friend, I do have F250 idi to put the camper on, the trucks get licensed as oldtimer, no emission checks.

Ask these questions in FTE's Southern California Chapter forum, most members live in or within 100 miles of Los Angeles.

The Czech Republic is #1 on my bucket list, Scapa Flow in the Orkney Islands is #2.

I think a 4.9l I6 would do fine towing a small camper at slower speeds. Of course, the bigger the truck and engine the easier it would be. The biggest concern now is COVID 19. It sucks here in the U.S., I can only imagine how bad it's getting in Europe. Stay safe.

I fell in love with Alaskan campers, the hard side pop up camper, dreaming of having one ever since I bought my F250 6 years ago on my road trip to the USA.
