My First Build Thread, (Cummins Swap)

Well I am going to try this, I bought a 1979 F-350 Super Cab a while back and have been doing some work on it, but last night I took the plunge and bought a 1992 Dodge D250 Cummins Truck running and driving for 1800, I believe I am going to swap drivetrains. I am not well versed on putting pictures on here and am going to become a paying member but may need a little help with that. I am excited but also a little worried that I am taking two awesome running and driving trucks and am going to end up with nothing for a LONG time. I am mainly worried about building the new motor mount perches, tranny crossmember, and driveshafts.

That's a nice truck and nice find on the Cummins, seems you can't even touch a motor for that price around here.

Be sure to check out co425 thread Beatty Turns Oil Burner it's a bit of a read but an incredible thread. He has a mind/eye for detail with lots of pictures and addresses several of your concerns.

Please post your progress, I think some day when $$ cooperate I might go down that road with my 73 F-350 SCS.

Good Luck.

As stated above. Read my thread and chasetrucks754's in the engine swap section. If you have any questions feel free to post on my thread or PM me.

Thank you.

Also, forgot to say earlier. Nice truck and really nice cow pusher. I need to build a bumper myself after the swap is done.

My friend installed a Cummins 5.9 in a 1950 GMC 4X4, gets ~ 18 MPG with large welder mounted on bed.

I had to sell the donor truck, money talks, but I have a 1995 F-250 Powerstroke Dually 2x4 with 140000 miles and a 1992 F-350 4X4 7.3L IDI, that I think I am going to combine and make this a powerstroke 4x4

one thing that differs frome chasetrucks and co425s swaps are they are both 4x4. takes a little more work to get that cummins or thirteen letter manure speader engine in a 2wd.

Nice looking truck man! I almost got excited when I seen where you are at. I thought it said Liberty, Texas instead of Liberty Hill. If you were in Liberty, you'd be about 15 minutes away, but Liberty Hill is about 3 hours. Be sure to keep us updated on your progress.
