Extended warranty on Navigation in mail today

Got a letter from Ford today extending the warranty on the navigation system to 5 years. Anybody else get the same? I haven't bought the extended warranty yet, only have 10,000 miles. Whats up?

Did it say why?

They will do that sometimes as a customer satisfaction thing.

MDW's Edge has one on the brake booster.

But to answer the question, No, I have not received one and I do have a '13 w/navigation.

Never even heard of it. You said a 5 year extension?

I got it.
Confirmed, 5 years TOTAL from the start of your warranty. It's not a 5 year extension. If I recall correctly it was for the entire MFT system not just the Navi.

Figures I should be getting mine on 5 years and one day if that is the case. Haven't had any huge issues with sync like others though. It does work a lot smoother in my 2010 Mustang but talking on the phone has been spotty. Might have more to do with the phone differentiating between two different vehicles with Sync.

I had some issues with the phone and the 2011 Sync system, it was the phone though, I had an old Motorola "Tundra" flip phone, it would pick up the phone and work fine, but more often than not if I got out of the truck or turned the truck off, it wouldn't pick the phone back up (turn off the phone, turn back on, etc.) that phone died, the new phone has no issues whatsoever.

I got the extended warranty notice also. It covers the MFT system totally for five years, which essentially extends the original factory warranty for two additional years.

Hi, everyone -

For select vehicles, the limited warranty of SYNC with MyFord Touch has been extended to a total of five years from the warranty start date, regardless of mileage. This additional coverage not only exceeds the original warranty coverage provisions of your vehicle, but also includes important future software updates.

Letters are still being mailed. If you do not receive one, contact your dealership to see if this applies to your vehicle.

I was wondering the same thing, but I read the post right above yours, it states Sync w / "My Ford Touch". I don't think it applies to the earlier Sync system. I have a 2011 also.

being a 2011 owner, I have no idea what Myfordtouch is over and above sync and nav. What does it do that ours doesn't, or is it just old wine in a new bottle??

I honestly don't know either as far as functionality, I know on the trucks, it (MFT) was supposed to be more user friendly, with larger & fewer buttons. I think some of the functions you and I have that use physical buttons are integrated into the touch screen, like the heated / cooled seat functions. IDK, I've never had any issues with my Sync system (watch it fall out of the dash now that I've said that) so far.

Hey, Big-Red-Lariat & RigTrash601 -

The warranty extension is for vehicles equipped with MyFord Touch.

Here's a link that shows a good breakdown of what each system offers:

SYNC and SYNC with MyFord Touch | Ford.com

Let me know if you have additional questions.

The warranty extension letter does not mention anything about map updates, JJJMN. I can't speculate on how they'll be provided going forward, but the SD card you currently have is equipped with the latest data.
