Do cowl vent screws go through rubber gasket?

Do the screws need to go through the gasket or does the gasket go right up against the screws on a 52 F1? Seems like a better fit if screwed through gasket.

Thanks,

Oscar

Should go through the bottom portion of rubber. The top (sealing edge) of rubber kinda goes over the top of the screws and somewhat hides them if i remember right.

Thank you both. Mine has 8 8/32 x 1/2 screws. I guess I can use an ice pick to start the holes.
