Bad Throttle positioning sensor?

Replaced the cps a little bit ago cause the motor would shut off and restart but now with the gas peddle held steady it with surge a little bit. Would that be the tps? And what's a good brand to get if so?

Best way to answer your question is with a scanner. Hold the pedal as you say, and see if the TPS % (or voltage) wavers. If so, yeah, that fingers the TPS. You could even do this with the key on, engine off.

You can also check it with a volt meter.

Ground to battery
Hot to middle wire on the TPS
Turn key on
Slowly press go pedal and watch voltage.
You're look for drops or dead spots.

If you have cruis control get it to start surging then set CC and see if it stops.
