towing with my 5.4 you all hate

Just thought I would share my towing experience I had today bringing my expedition to my new house

This vid is 0-40mph. I weighed in at 14,800# today. For me there is nothing to be desired with this acceleration. It is way faster then my 96 7.3 was.

This is me towing up what I was told is a 7% grade. You don't need to turn 5000rpm to get up comfortably. Combined weight 14,800#

I can't wait to get the 4.88 in. It will be an animal towing then.

I have a short in the wiring somewhere I can't find. I will rewire the trailer soon and I have all new lights but I've been out of work due to a tripple lumbar fusion since September so funds and work ability have been low. Everything but the front right running light and the rear running light work but I've replaced those wires and nothing changed so I'm going to start from scratch.

How did you make that 6.4 spin 5 grand and sound like a gasser?

Makes me want to try a 5.4. I do love my old trusty 7.3 closing in on 500k but some days I just wish she would shut up.

I've been saying for the same for years. I think my '07 5.4L does a better job of towing that some of the late 80s/early 90s F-250s I have driven with 460 CID engines.

Exactly. When pushed these motors give back big time. I never understood why so many people say it is a gutless, no torque motor. I've towed less weight with a 05 Chevy 6.0 and it performed much worse. I honestly believe the 5.4 needs to be stressed to get all its power.

Now, its not a v10 and its not a diesel so there is no comparison being made here but as far as a v8 goes I feel the motor handles pulling 15000# just fine.

Also keep in mind I have 3.73 and 35's.
