96 f250 with chevy side mirrors

I personally don't like the dodge side mirror and don't like the fact that the window vent gets covered up. I wanted to have a mirror that telescope out for towing but also has a bigger viewing area. looking around I found some chevy ones that were similar to the style of the obs sport mirror that I currently have. also the chevy ones have a much smaller mounting base so that helps tremendously. So yesterday I mocked up where they would go and took some pictures. I might try and move them a little higher and will probably cut off the top 3" or so of the base since it is only for show and not part of the mount. I tried to keep the shape of the base in line with the vent window frame so that it looks like it flows into it and even with the body line. here are some picts

telescoped out

this is just preliminary. I didn't have any metric nuts to fit the base studs. Also I think I may use some back seam sealer to seal around the edges and fill in any gaps. The viewing area is larger, the lower convex mirror portion really widens the veiw area. Like I said I may try to move it up more to where the original one is but the door also slopes in more so I can't go to much higer. Two of the mount holes are behind the door speaker and the third comes out behind the upper door hinge, but that nut for that one will be inside the door. there is just enough gap there.

Those don't look too bad. I could even learn to like them. What I want to know is the story behind the gauges sticking out of the hood!

I like the 70's. LOL. Big one high pressure oil gauge small one fuel pressure. It had 7.3 powerstroke

I want tow mirrors without blocking or creating a big blind spot in the window vent

I'm sorry but that looks awful. How do they look mounted over the wing? The shape looks spot on and it would only cover half the wing and keep it semi operable. If it can be screwed down of course.

Seems like these would be easier and not look completely out of place and, in my honest opinion, horrific.

Longview Towing Mirrors, Slip On Mirror Style - Best Price on Slide On Towing Mirror Extensions

And if not those, why not something like these which are factory?

Yep I agree. The factory Goosenecks get my vote if you want a good towing mirror that "fits"

Chevy parts on a ford?

Don't know because right now I don't want it mounted over it. Actual position and is not final yet and the plastic part will be cut down more

Got the add a mirrors already and they are worthless and annoying. They fulfill a legal requirement only

I don't like the look of that style mirror and I want a telescoping style

If ford had something that had a smaller base I would try it.

those mirrors may look decent if you mount them in the wing window opening, but where you have them in the first picture they look pretty silly.
