I have thinking about this all day, saw it in your other thread. Im no great mechanic here, but is the breather working correctly? Thats the only thing I can think of. Maybe its not letting it breath right and causing it to come out the breather.

Have no clue if this is possible, but who knows. Hopefully someone smarter can help you.

I'm at a loss. Usually when the heather is clogged it blows your axle seals. Do you have a stock or aftermarket cover? The reason I ask is the the big fabbed steel covers have the hole too high. You actually have to fill them an inch below the hole or you are over full.

Are you sure it is 90 wt coming out of the breather hose and not motor oil dripping down on it?

Sometimes, keeping the oil 1/2" or so below the fill plug level can clear up that problem.

the axles are stock nothing aftermarket about them. Yes im sure its 90wt, I can watch it drip out of the hose after i drive it around the block. As of right now the oil level is about an 1" below the fill hole. I changed out the breather just to make sure but that didnt help at all.

Pull the hose and ck it too, at least that is what I would do. Also ck the axle tube where the hose connects for being stopped up with something??

Better to blow out the vent hose than the seals....

Wait a second. You pulled the hose completely off and the problem goes away? That doesn't make any sense. You don't per chance have the breather hooked to a vacuum line, do you? I know it's a dumb question, but I'm trying to cover the bases.

The breather nipple has a very small hole in it to let air in, but keep fluid from getting out. Then you should have about an 18" rubber hose that goes up and clips to the frame rail. Some still have the dust cover on the end, but most these days are just hoses that are open to the air. What does your set up look like?

I was wondering if he has the wrong rotation differential in the housing?

I never even thought of that. .....that would do it to, but not without the axle engaged. With the truck in 2wd and the hubs unlocked, the rotating gear in the center section just sits there and doesn't turn.

That's exactly what I was thinking. But didn't mention it before cause I figured that the OP just reused the original diff.

No i pulled the hose so i wouldn't have 90wt all over the underside of the truck. still have the same issue.

its all original, i never even messed with the diff at all. the axles came off a running 78 250. dont think they are reverse rotation but still shouldn't spew 90wt all over at idle.
