Best Highway MPG in 4x4

Hey Fellas,
Drove home from work Friday, which is about 30 highway miles at 65mph. Stopped at the off ramp stop light and the MPG read 24.9. WOW! This is the best MPG I've ever had in a 4x4. I've been manually calculating the MPG when I fill up and the computer is pretty close to correct. I just can't believe the MPG is that good. Anyone else get this kind of MPG? Adios.

My best record was 26.5 on a very flat surface in a 2012 F150 XLT Supercrew 4x4 with 5.0 V8 after 60 minutes of driving. Hypermiling takes practice, you'll be a pro in no time, so easy to do that on the F150. I couldn't do that on a lot of the German and Japanese cars I've owned!

With only 3422 miles, that's extremely good. Should get better after break in, huh? How did everyone else do with the EB, did the mileage get progressively better as the truck got past the break in? I got maybe 1 mpg better with the 6.2L, only if I wasn't driving like an idiot!

Got 9,000 miles on my '13, FX4, Max Tow, 3.73, 157" etc... used to get about 15-16 highway with it. Now I'm getting 17.8 at 65, cruise on etc... best ever was 18.3 but I had to keep it at 62 mph, cruise on, board flat highway for 90 miles.

My lifetime average was 16.9 MPG, but that included over a thousand miles towing various things. On the highway mine is capable of 19-20 if I keep it below 70 MPH, but it's just not gonna do 23-24 like those with 3.31s will.

Don't I wish, Just dropped truck off at dealership today. Having them check the ECU 6000 miles avg mileage 13.4 mostly hwy. When took trip to Florida 70mph never saw any mileage better than 14mpg. This is the third time truck has been back to dealership in 2 months.

City driving I only avg. a best of 12.3 I sold my Powerstroke and went with the F-150 for increased mpg. So far bad move. Have a friend with 2011 F-350 6.7 Powerstroke and he see's 19MPG.

That's pretty typical for me on a long highway drive. If you can keep the tachometer between 1800 and 1950, that seems to be the happy spot.

** UPDATE **
Guys,
Now my MPG is back to normal. Meaning, I drove home from work(same route, 30 highway miles with cruise at 65mph) and I got 21.9mpg.

Since my MPG seems to vary every few days, it must be conditions(humidity, wind, temp, etc). Let me know your thoughts. Adios.

You're probably correct, my truck gets dismal mileage, I never even have the info center on the Fuel Economy section, I usually keep it in gauge mode (blank) so i don't have to look at it... I'll hand calculate it every now and again. I didn't purchase the truck with very high expectations on the mileage issue anyway. I can break 20 MPG on the downslope of a very steep grade with the truck in neutral!! LOL

Did a 450 mile round trip today. Everything from flat road to rolling hills and the Ozark Mountain area in South Central Missouri. Some city, some 55, some 60, some 70, pretty much a good overall mix of roads and it was windy all day.

Got 20.6 for the trip with my '13 SCrew EB 4x4 with only 2600 miles on it. Pretty happy with that. My '99 F250 SCab V10 4x4 would have gotten 12 and not ridden nearly as nice or been so quiet.

Even getting an average of 18 mpg city and 24 mpg on the highway, glad I traded my Superduty when I did. 122.9 per liter at the pumps today and even more for diesel. Talk about a kick it the wallet.
