6.2 or v10

6.2 or v10
I am desperately in need of a new dump truck. I am not sure whether it will be a 350,450, or 550. I am leaning towards a 350 because of cdl issues. For about a month this truck will need to tow 6000 lbs and haul 6500 lbs in the dump body. The rest of the time it will be used to tow a 12k gvw trailer with a bobocat on it, general landscape work and snowplowing. Most of the driving is short trips around town, non highway miles. The new diesel is not really an option, but I am used to a 7.3 and a 6.0.
Will the 6.2 with 4.30 rear end do the trick? I can not get a v10 in a 350 so that is sort of limiting me to the 6.2. How much will I be disappointed since I am used to the diesel? I have some gm 6.0 gas jobs as well and they don't have enough grunt to do the job. Most seem to be satisfied with the 6.2 but I wont know for sure til I hook up a load on the truck but they wont let me do that at the dealer. Thanks for any help

You will probably be disappointed with the 6.2 in a dump truck. I have an F250 with 6.2 and 4.30 and it doesn't have much bottom end power. I also have a V10 with 4.10 gears. It has considerably more low end power. The 6.2 does get you around but wont impress you. I get equal fuel economy out of both trucks.

I have a 2013 f-250,4x4 crewcab 4x4 with 3.73 and I have no complaints on pulling loads. On average I am pulling 8-10k with heaviest of 15-16k to date. I haul mainly equipment, tractors, truck etc Its no cummins diesel...had them since 1997, but I am very happy with. The only V-10 I have experience is our 02 Excursion, its not a powerhouse.
