Hi- I am trying to fit my original Ford trim rings that currently sit on my 16.5" wheels onto a set of 16" rims. I've researched it (see below) and it appears as though the trim rings will fit the 16" rims if snapped on first. When I try that procedure, it fits but sticks out 3/4" from the rim. See pics below. Is that how it's supposed to sit or am I not doing something correctly or do I have the wrong rims? I thought they were a set of original Ford rims. Assistance appreciated and thanks.

1971/72 Galaxie/LTD / 1972/74 E300 / 1972/79 F250/350 / 1975/79 E250/350.

In order to install 15" wheel covers on 16" wheels, D2TZ-1210-A trim ring was snapped on first, then the 15" wheel cover was snapped onto the trim ring.

While this wheel cover is "as original" any 15" wheel cover can be used.
