Question OT. All Aluminum Gooseneck trailer good or Bad?

i have found a 40' All Aluminum Gooseneck trailer that is priced good, it has 3 7000 axles and looks good. are All Aluminum Gooseneck good are bad, do they fail or do they last. i dont look to put 21000 gvwr only about 10000 on it so it should not be maxed out. it was used to haul big steel tank and equipment for a company so it is tried and used. should i take a closer look are walk away.

Matt I have seen a aluminum gooseneck trailer cracker or should I say fatigued with stress cracks next to the welds where the gooseneck comes down to the frame. And I have heard of other cases of this happening on other aluminum goosenecks. So I would inspect it very carefully around the gooseneck goes to the frame. Personally I would go with a steel trailer.

Aluminum trailers are great if they're designed and built well. And then not absolutely abused or overloaded. Horse trailers and semi trailers have been aluminum for years and had great success.

Yes you should inspect closely before you buy for any stress cracks or poor workmanship, but you should do the same for a steel trailer. I've seen steel trailers develop cracks along the welds too.

thanks for the info, im going to pass on it. it is not wide enough for what i need, and the more i talk to welders the more i dont want a aluminum frame trailer. as this is a shop built so not telling if it will hold. as im sure the company works abused it.

although for $3200 i might get it pull the axles and sell it for scarp as it has a aluminum deck.
