Oops. Sorry. It is a 1955. Not 1956. Been looking for a project. Called on this. Engine locked up. Cannot believe tranny not far behind. Guy said heads had been done. New carb. ETC. He was asking 3000.00 came down to 2500.00. I offered 2000.00.He turned it down. I did not want to offend him because of his health problems. But. It is a four door With major problems not a two door. Some one would basically be buying a body. Cheaper than want people want for Effies. What ya'll think? Thanks.

It's not "all original" since it has a dual master cylinder that no car or truck came with until 1967.
The 4V carb and manifold are not original either, they're from a 1957 Thunderbird 292/312 or 1957/58 292/312 Ford or Merc Passenger Car.
1955/56 Fords/Mercs/Birds came with troublesome 2 & 4V Holley 'tea-pot' carbs. 1955 is one year only as the choke is mounted on the intake manifold!
Back then, people discovered to their horror when they planned to install 1957 and later carbs, that they wouldn't bolt to the tea-pot's intake manifold, as the bolt pattern is different.
Passenger Cars use a different VIN than trucks. The 1st digit is the engine size, 2nd is the year, 3rd is the assembly plant code, 4th is the body style code. Last 6 is the numerical sequence of assembly.
4 door sedans are worth the least of any collector car, as most people prefer ragtops, 2 door hardtops, 2 door sedans.
I see rust spots peeking out from the hood nose moulding.
The pictures are poor, but it appears to have a bulging spot in the rocker panel where the R/front door meets the fender. The rear lower corner of R/front door seems to have a similar issue.
People fail to keep the drain holes in the rocker panels, bottoms of the doors clear, so before too long, these parts tend to rust from the inside out, causing rusty bulges to protrude from the sheet metal.

Thanks,NumberDummy. I noticed the dual master cylinder also. 4 doors are not the most desirable. And the engine being locked up. The fellow wants to much for what he has. I think my offer of $2000.00 was respectable. Oh well. There is always more fish in the sea.
