Leaf spring; which way???

Okay, time to embarrass myself. I'm working on lowering the rear of a 56 panel truck. The leaf springs are not symmetrical, does the longer side, (from center bolt), go toward the rear? Obviously it will change rear end location if I get it backwards . Please help me get this thing back together
Thanks in advance,
James

Would it not be apparent if you were to hold the springs up under the frame and see if the center bolt was under the bump stop, or too far fore or aft?

I'm not exactly positive on the old F100 Trucks but almost 99% of the time the longer part of the leaf spring will go to the rear.

Thanks guys. I did hold it up both ways, and to the rear seemed right, but too much aggravation to get it wrong. You guys deliver again!
Thanks again,
James
