Emissions hoses-The colored 1/8" plastic stuff?

Hello--
Well, as the major tune up ensues, some issues have arisen....

The small diameter emissions hoses, about 1/8" in diam, are brittle and disintegrating in my hands!

The sticker under the hood shows four different colors connecting various parts. The colors are white, black, red, pink, and a short green piece. Each section connects to the part with a rubber connector (most appear to be L shaped).

Where can I get this colored emissions plastic hose? I want to keep the colors the same.

I tried Rock Auto and they don't have them.

Thanks

I just went through this myself. I used bulk 3/16 brake line from the parts store. Took apart the "harness" and built em one by one. I even painted em to match. Why not. Bulk line was like $16 for 25' from AGS. Pic is in the process.

Nice! Those should last for eternity! After seeing your brake line idea, I started thinking.....what about that new plastic brake line? I believe it too is 3/16". Is brake line 3/16" ID or OD?

What size are the OEM colored plastic lines?

I could even paint the plastic lines with paint suitable for plastic. Much easier to work on and flex, although not as durable as metal.

They are 3/16 OD. Fit perfect in the factory connectors. Had everything I needed 'cept for the pink paint. I was going to post this idea after I put my engine together. Thats why I painted em. Buddies were screaming **** comments at me when I was scuffing prepaint.

I had a similar issue with my truck recently. I just went the easy route with black rubber vacuum line I bought in bulk from the parts store. After it was routed, trimmed up and zip-tied, it looked just fine, and functioned well. Just a quicker, easier option to the rigid lines.

Cheers,

JD

I did this option on my other rig after the big fire of '13. Quick fix and wasnt happy with it. Told myself I could do better.

Well rubber vacuum line is an OEM-style method; better than the hard plastic lines that these trucks originally came with. I'm more into functionality than detailing on my truck; it's just a daily driver. So far, the rubber lines have worked perfectly, and I don't expect to have any issues with them for as long as I'll own the truck. The steel lines are cool though.

Cheers!

I second that...I replaced mine with silicone hose because it bends easy, will last long and has a high temp rating so it shouldn't break down in the engine bay over time. I always hated doing any work around those older, brittle lines for fear they would break.

I replaced all of mine with the higher quality silicon lines years ago... I'd recommend against the cheaper vinyl lines because those soften when they warm up and will collapse, but the real silicon works well and if you like a clean engine bay, can be cleaned easily.
