I have a 2000 Ford F350 7.3 Powerstroke. I want to chop the muffler off and just replace it with a straight pipe. Wondering what size pipe and what size adapters I need. I googled it but can't get any good answers.

He'll even wrap it up in a big yellow bow for ya. I used a side-grinder with a cutting wheel when I tried this... and it was a very clean install. I hated the noise, so I bought a 4" turbo-back exhaust.

 

Any way I'd be able to get away with a straight piece of pipe or no? Don't wanna use any flex pipe. And is the stock pipe 3.5"?

 

I bought a 3 1/2" U bend from Summit Racing. Cut it in half, and swivel it around and welded it back together(to make a Z). Remove muffler and welded it in place. Worked fine on my 2000 PSD. Of course the truck was brand new, so the pipes just slid apart. Likely not so lucky 14 yrs later!

Loved that sound, especially with my 14K trailer in tow and rear slider opened up.

The pipe goes in the middle of the muffler, and comes out off-center. Good luck trying a straight pipe, I haven't tried that.

 

Ya, kinda fits me. Into anything old, noisy and smokes.

The 3 1/2" u bend, split and trimmed and rotated will make it about 3 1/2" offcenter when you weld it back together. Just about perfect to replicate the muffler offset.
