Rear marker lights

Want to add the rear marker lights on my 2012 SD like the 350's have. Is there already a lead there to plug in to already or do you have to tap into the harness. If you have to tap into it does anyone know which wire and where is best?

I tapped into the tag light. super easy. I used a bit of silicone on the scotch loc connectors to keep out moisture. The light I used was a Grote 49182 from amazon.

Same light I'm looking at. Claims to be replacement part. I haven't looked at space under bed. Did you have to drill?

no drilling on the truck. I used number 10 stainless steel bolts. it fits great I installed mine last night. I did make the holes a tiny bit bigger on the light but no need to drill your truck.

Most of the light bars I have seen were like 7 1/2" centers on the holes and our holes are like 16" centers I think. get the grote light you will be happy

I installed mine a couple years back, I used the trucklite brand (#15745 I believe... ~$20 at Napa) and it fit perfect on my 07. I cut the wire to the driver side plate light and then joined the new wire in with a reducing butt connector, then heat shrink and wire loom, looks just like a factory install under there. I love how they dress up the rear end!

I got the led strip from amazon and used half on one side and half on the other. Comes on when the doors are unlocked or doors are open. I tied into the plug on the frame that the lariats have.

The leds come with 3m sticky tape but I added silicone on both sides to hopefully help it stick better... Time will tell.

Yep, that's what I'm looking at. I have the plug on the frame. I'm not sure how to mount the strips or exactly where. I'm concerned about the ice and snow pulling adhesive off where I'm at.

On some of the trucks there is a plug on the frame that you can use a metra speaker adapter to tie into. But yes it is the dome circuit.

That's why I added the extra silicone. I also have the factory mud flaps so I'm hoping that will help. Like I said I don't know how long it will last yet I haven't had it on there very long

Lol it is a sickness! The top lights are the atomic led strobes and the lights in the bottom air dam are 3/4" leds. Took all I had to drill all those holes in a brand new truck!
