62 f100 7.3l

Hey fellas I'm new on this site. Alittle history I always played around with mustangs since my first car. Got a rare opportunity to purchase my good friends dads 62 f100 4x4 4 years back. Took me about 5 grand to get her operational and on the road with a 351w been driving it like that for 2 years

WOW

How you going to get the front suspension to handle all that weight? It just seems it might be way to much for it. Good luck.

if i remember right the 7.3 weighs around 1000 lbs or better where the ford 460 is in the 700 lbs neighborhood and the 390 was lighter than that..... but i bet if you beefed up the front end the 7.3 would be quite the motor setup but in all reality the 460 makes similar power and is lighter.... but the diesel if set up correctly would get better gas mileage most likely

Diesels are always nice to have. Smokenchoken is close on the weight numbers I believe. Being a 4x4 you might have a easy time getting the front end to handle the extra weight. As it is leaf sprung front end right? Could use some add a leafs or get custom rate springs made to handle the added weight. What trans and transfer case are you planning on using? Be sure to get lots of pics and post them for us to see of your swap.

good luck hooking up a 7.3 PSD i wouldnt do it as it seems like a electrical nightmare.

but they do make good power & get ok mileage in big trucks. Got a 96 250 with one with 286k.

if i was going diesel in a old truck id throw a 6.9 idi in it. Cheap to buy & buy parts for & makes good power & gets way better mileage then a powerstroke. just from what ive seen
