Anyone know where to get new shoe return springs for the rear of a '57 F100?

I bought a spring set the parts guy thought would work, however, the front shoe spring isn't right... pulls the keeper at a weird angle.

At some time in the past, the original front shoe spring were replaced with rear shoe spring.

I love this truck.. it's little things like this that drive me nuts.

If your local NAPA, or other parts store doesn't have them, try rockauto.com. They had everything for my '59.

Thanks guys,

I was able to grab the correct springs for the rear at rockauto.com. Those guys have everything. Including new clutch set for $136 (includes disc, pressure plate, throwout and pilot... not to mention the alignment tool.)

Love that place.

Do yourself a favor and measure your clutch before you buy. Don't ask me how I know its a good idea.

Definitely. These came with both 11" and 10" clutches. Maybe Number Dummy can make sense of what had which.

Yeah, We have a NAPA next to a supply house (kind of convenient). They gave me the spring set. From what I can tell... the spring set may be for the fronts... I guess I'll find out this weekend... if the rain holds out.

Has anyone ever done their clutch in their driveway by dropping just the trans?

Last time I did one, it was on a '66 mustang and I had access to a hoist so I pull the trans and motor as one.

Front and rear springs should be the same.
The trucks don't have a solid bellhousing like the small blocks. Just pull the trans, take the flywheel cover off the bottom of the bellhousing and the clutch will drop out the bottom.

Yes, many times. But we had the stock trans & clutch behind a Buick 322 & adapter bell housing. It was easy with the floorboard cover out.
