Got her back today

This guy is good. Although he told me before I wasnt gonna say anything on here until I saw it (he had never done one of these) despite what he and I both had researched and been told he got it mounted where the body lines match perfectly. He made a custom filler and return pipe so he could use the normal filler location. Cost a bit more than I wanted but it is worth it.

Why such a huge gap between the cab and bed? Or does the picture just make it seem big?

Nope it has a big gap. Reason being the truck is a cab chassis. Cab to center of axle is 60 inches instead of 40 something on a truck. Also the frame is 3 inches narrower on the cab chassis and is straight unlike a truck chassis. I wanted a truck bed on it so my shop did a custom install. Ford makes a bed extender/spacer for F550s that will fit my F350 so will get that when the time comes to get the paint done.

From what I understand the guy who onwed it before me had a huge dog box on it-he bought the cab chassis new in 06. The reason i did it was A: I wanted a truck with a truck bed and not a service or flat bed. B: was cheaper to do this then buy a regular truck with a bed already. Ford doesnt make a truck bed for a cab chassis so had to do a custom install.

From searching the net I couldn't find a single thing on doing this "conversion" so I guess I will try and get more specifics and post them up.

Tks--me either but the boss-I mean wife--told me I'm going to have to wait awhile before I do the spacer and paint--i'm good with that for now I guess.
The one thing I did find out is the guy didn't make any prints--just made as he went. I told him I could get him alot of business--he said no thanks-lol. I think he had like 40 or 50 hours in making the brackets--every one is different. Wish I could get good picks of what he has done--it is pretty amazing to make it work the way it did.
