Heater core

What is the best way to block off water to my heater core. I am going to change the heater core but want to use pickup while heater core out. I`m going to replace hoses along with heater core. Should I just clamp hose and put plug in each hose or put a elbow in and clamp hoses together? Thank you.

I usually do it one of two ways. Either plug the hoses, I normally use 5/8 bolts or take one hose and loop it back around to the engine. Both ways work.

Get a piece of 1/2" copper water pipe (5/8" OD) about 2 in long, pull the hoses from the core and plug the pipe in and clamp it. It will work till the cows come home.
