Okiedokie, I have owned this truck,,,,,,,

42 yrs and have driven it anywhere I wanted to go. I just feel with the cost of fuel vs milage, it would take several fill ups and the diesels are more fuel effishent than the gaser. Fifteen yrs ago I wouldn`t have hesitated a second to drive it that far. Todays gas prices and milage do enter into the picture more for me.

I towed my F100 from Denver to Detroit with a Ranger 4.0L vehicle. I disconnected the drive shaft, pulled the front bumper and attached a tow bar to the front of the frame. Pulled like a dream except when I forgot it was there and looked in the rear view mirror.

I pulled a 54 from North Platte Nebraska to Gadsden Alabama in 100 to 105 degree weather. I didn't have the first problem except when I looked in the rear view and saw that big *** grill in the back window! Took a little getting use to! LOL

I am following this thread because I hope to tow a 56 Frame on a dolly mid summer myself using my 2004 Silverado 1500 about 150 miles on a tow dolly. I have towed a smaller car on a dolly before and to Ranger Pat's and Lakota's point it is ok until you forget it's back there and look in the rear view mirror...

Donald, I towed the ''earl truck'' 1956 f250 on my tow-dolly across Ohio and with a chevy van. V6 towed it with no problem. It was nearly 100 degrees out too.

It's only a 3 hour drive, how expensive can it be? I'd drive it and enjoy the ride.

towed great didn't have any problems just gotta adjust your braking distance cause your using just one set of brakes to stop two trucks.... and for what its worth the truck has a 390 fe c6 tranny and merc front clip in it so it has some weight to it!!!

Donald, if the front suspension on the frame is good, a bumper tow bar would be fine. You need 4 decent tires instead of two, tho. You also need a bumper on the frame, obviously!

I believe the idea is, he's delivering his truck to a new owner and has to get back home?

If you're towing a bare frame you need to be up on the wheel - The smallest bumps can send it bouncing all over the place
