What Oil & Filter?

So to update. Oil consumption is still no better. Still no blue smoke, but that oil is going somewhere... Now my wife is beginning to talk about selling it, because we are about to move cross country, and driving 2K straight on a truck that's drinking a quart every 100mi isn't a good idea... She pointed out that we already spent 2 grand on this truck after buying it... As a shot in the dark I'm gonna try regular dino oil Pennzoil high mileage, and CD-2 Chemical/Heavy duty oil stop leak. I'm not to optimistic though...

Ok... So now I notice blue smoke during idle and now got these diagnostic codes.
P1000- OBD-11 Monitor checks incomplete, require another drive cycle.
P0171- System to lean. (Right cylinder bank.)
P0174- System to lean. (Left cylinder bank.)
P0303- Cylinder #3 Misfire Detected.

Could be misfiring because it is lean.
First check intake tract. Any opening after the MAF will cause a lean. Holes, bad gasket..etc.
Next up could be o2 sensors.. but it's both sides so unlikely.

Was talking with a buddy of mine and he said that this engine is prone to broken spark plugs, and blown spark plugs. He said it might be that the oil cumsumption could be caused by the spark plugs possibly cracking and messing up the Vaccumm. Do you guys think that's possible? With the error codes I got replacing the spark plugs may be a good idea, but not looking to spend anymore money if the engine has to go. Especially since worst cause on the spark plugs may require retapping with a timesert Kit.

For the Misfires get a couple motorcraft coils and change them out one at a time with the appropriate cylinder.

I really appreciate the help, but my major frustration is the codes are giving me the indication that the spark plugs are being fouled by bad piston rings since I have so much oil consumption with blue smoke now. So could the spark plugs be causing the oil consumption or just be a symptom of the consumption? I would love to change out the O2 sensors and give it a tune up if that eliminates all the problems, but don't want to keep spending money if its time for a new engine ore rebuild. I have heard the theory of bad sparkplugs possibly causing oil consumption, but it sounds far fetch to me. I don't want to put more money into the engine if I should be saving for a new one.

I don't see how spark plugs can cause oil consumption.
Have you checked the intake tract for leaks ? It's saying too lean... MEans you have unmetered air coming in. I don't think the o2's are bad since both sensors report lean... Highly unlikely that they go bad both at the same time.
again, don't focus on the misfires but focus on the lean indications first.
