Strange transmission issues
I installed Ranch hand bumpers on my truck 2014 F250 6.2 over the past few days. I installed the back bumper and everything was fine. I installed the 270lb front bumper on my truck and now the transmission feels sluggish.
I know there is a learning process the transmission goes through to better adapt to the driving style. The shifts seem to be firmer then before the bumper install The downshifts seem harsher to the point where it feels like im downshifting with tow/haul on and I have a shudder when coming to a stop now. Almost like a dry slip-joint on the driveshaft.
Do I need to drive a certain amount of miles and allow the trans and software time to do its thing? I plan on dropping the driveshaft this weekend and greasing the slip joint. Im thinking that has something to do with it since the front end came down slightly and there is more travel in the slip joint then before.

The transmission software DOES adapt to the characteristics of each individual transmission. That is a continuous process over the entire life of the truck.
Was there any wiring involved with the bumper install? Wiring problems can cause shifting problems.

Thanks for clearing that up! The only change was to the license plate wiring harness after the factory plug on the bumper side. I just added the new light. Everything else was bolt on.
I have had little issues with the shifting since I got it and I just figured its a new truck doing its thing. I know the transmission is much much different then the old 4R100's. I figured its normal.
Tomorrow I am going to grease the drive shaft slip joint and see if that helps any. Its only been about 50 miles and Ill give it some time and see If I need to have the dealer reflash the transmission.
