oil leak

first of all I am a new member.Thank you.I have read a lot of posts and gained a lot of valuable information.

just purchased a 1973 f100 pickup.nice all original truck.vehicle was stored for 20 years.was passed on to a family member.they put all new electrical master cyl work brakes tune up oil change and some other odds and ends.says hes been driving the truck on/off for a year.I checked the garage floor and there was no buildup of oil drippings.they replaced the vale cover gaskets.I noticed a little oil between the heads behind the water pump.I wipped it clean and drove 150 miles home.ran like a top.looked under the hood and there was oil again in the same spots.I wiped it clean again started the motor and within a minute you could see oil again.

I am a enthusiast with some skill but no motorhead.Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. its a 1973 v6 302 engine with 94000 miles.

truck was very well taken care of.

if its like the leak on my 74 with a v8 302 its coming from the base of the distributor then running down on the timing cover behind the water pump.

i have yet to find a fix, i replaced the distributors oring with no luck.

oil leak

EFFONEHUNDRED
thank you for guiding ne in the right direction.I cleaned the whole area and used gunk to get rid of the oil.The bolt holding the distributor and another bolt was loose and I tighten the.Ran the engine for 15 minutes and no visable leak. Will have to wait until I put it on the road to determine the leak further.Thank you for the advice and look forward to expanding my knowledge of the F100.
