54 F100 changing the steering column

I figured since it must of been done numerous times by people on this forum I would ask the experts. I have a 54 F100 with the V8 and three speed on the column. I would like to put in a new steering column so I can have built in turn signals and cancelers. I have a few questions;
1) can you buy a new column and keep three on the tree?
I have no problem in converting it to a floor shifter if its not to crazy to do.
2) what length column do I need?
3) anyone recommend which I should buy?

This is probably not what you are asking but it is fairly easy to buy the turn signal switch and wiring from most any of the vendors and install it in the stock column. The self cancelling part is a semicircular ring that installs on the underside of the steering wheel hub.

I have a bolt on turn signal switch on my column now. Not self cancelling.
