Clutch: No need to redrill flywheel. Use Ford pressure plate and Chevy clutch disc.

I was thinking I could do that but just in case there was more to it than that, I had a back up plan ha ha. I got to ask the machine shop that is going to do my engine if they can do the flywheel balancing too. Thanks for the info on the clutch set up. Can't wait to see how this truck runs and sounds.

Just giving an update, I am going to order the aluminum plate tomorrow for the adapter plate and then I am taking the the bell housing and bearing retainer from the transmission to the machine shop to get it machined. Then it's off to the auto salvage for a 302 157 flywheel and 10.5" clutch and the Chevy slave cylinder. Slam it together and start on the motor and cross member mounts, then it's off to the drivetrain shop. Just keeping it rolling a little at a time ha ha!

Got the aluminum plate so the bell housing and transmission will be one soon. Then it's off to the mounts and driveshaft, won't be long.

Good to know I still have someone following my project. I'm not going to give up on it just taking a while. Working a 40 hr. fulltime job along with mowing till dark, well just can't seem to put a whole lot of time but it'll get finished. Got to get the neighbor machinist to turn me a dummy pilot bearing and measure one more time before we lay it out to machine. Then cutting the oil pan and pickup, ordering 4.0V6 mounts and then doing the motor and tranny brackets. I got it all lined out, all is left is getting it done.

Well I got the header, the carburetor, oil filter relocate kit, the adapter plate and now waiting to get the head back from getting the carb adapter and log intake machined. Going tomorrow to pick up the plate for the engine mounts and then I'll be ready to get the engine bolted in. Once I get it in and located, I can get the driveshaft built and then it's off to the machine shop for machine work. Can't wait to hear this thing run. Wonder if I should use the 252H or 260H Comp Cam?

The guy doing my head had a spill in the shop and messed his arm up so project is on ice until he's healed up, but just got the clutch in from Summit yesterday evening, and only cost me 95 bucks, 100 less than I was thinking. Guess I'm going to order a new flywheel since no one around has a 157T. But I can get one for less than 50 bucks so ehh, why not. All and all it's coming together pretty good.

Got to order a different pressure plate since obviously a Chevy pressure plate won't fit a Ford flywheel ha ha. Everything else worked though so meh, still a good price for the clutch even though I have to re-order the press. plate. Still no word on the head though.

Still following your progress. Keep on updating. Too many times we never find out the results of a project like this.

It's coming, once I get the head and pressure plate, I can go ahead and move forward. I'm going to get some pics up as soon as I can. Finale will be a video of it driving. If I can get to the point of getting the engine to the machine shop, I'll be on the down hill side. Really want to hear it through the stacks though .

Okay got the pressure plate in today, clutch is altogether now. Chopping the oil pan and pick up this weekend, just waiting on the head now. I'll post picks as soon as I get the engine in with the radiator and accessories on.

Well the balancer and distributor is on the way. Finally got the money saved up for the machine shop. Also got a Ford pilot bushing coming, got to bore it out for the Chevy bushing to fit, then I can put the friction plate in and get the clutch fork figured out. Get the engine stuck back in and start fabbing the brackets and mounts. Finally coming together now. I'll get the camera and start taking some pics to post. After 14 years of contemplating, I'm finally gonna drive the last nail in this coffin. Feels pretty damn good.

Still no word on my head but if you recall in the first few posts, I said I ended up with a 144 I6. So I set that head on the 250 and checked the fit of the of the header, not looking well at this point, the header hits the frame rail. Oh well, you can't go in uncharted territory and expect to not run into fitment issues. Might see if I can barter with the machinist and get some knock off my bill ha ha. Also have a classic car show coming up called cruising the coast so might list it on craigslists and see if someone needs it for a 6 cylinder mustang. Not really a huge let down other than the coin spent on the header. Any ways, I still have the original exhaust manifold and since this engine won't see rpm's above 3,500 I don't think it's going to be harmful to performance. Who know's I might get a wild hair a build a header one day. Oh, forgot to add, the balancer from a 300 will fit the 250.
