May have found a donor truck..

I'm looking at a 76 F100 as a donor for my 66 F100.

Quick question, instead of swapping parts... Since I have the front clip, cab, and bed off of my 66 right now, can I just put those on the 76 frame?

technically it should work with minor modifications, but you should check with you local DMV before doing so as there may be legal implications. The VIN is stamped on the frames.

Richard, Yes you can, as the chassis ID mentioned the 76 also has a longer wheelbase. If you can deal with that you might be able to pull it off.

Well my donor truck fell through. Main goal was PS and it didn't have it, the kid thought it did, but he was wrong. The truck was his dad's and has been parked for several years.

So back out looking again, looking for PS and PB, would like to pull everything from the steering column, PS Gearbox, out to and including the Disc brake spindles, as well as the PB booster.

I know I can look at 73 to 79 F100's but can some one give me a quick list of what other years / models will work? Such as the F250 or Broncos, will those work, if so what years?

Thanks very much,

Just for the heck of it google "electric steering assist". I read somewhere I think in classic trucks about an electric motor assisted steering setup for our old trucks. The motor went on the column under the dash. This would save you from finding the pulleys, pump, steering column and a bunch of other stuff needed to for hydraulic power steering to your Ford. I remember thinking that this might be a good idea to try someday.

Richard it is 73-76 for the FE 352/360/392 engine 73-79 for I6. The 250 has different spindles and brakes so no on that. Take your time be diligent in your search, get the complete truck.

If your 1966 is 2WD w/a 352: 1973/76 F100 360/390 2WD & 1975/76 F150 360/390 2WD.

If your 1966 is 2WD w/a 240/300 I-6: 1973/79 F100 2WD & 1975/79 F150 2WD. 240 cancelled at the end of the 1974 model run.

F250 is different as is Bronco, as all Bronco's are 4WD's.

So engine sizes only make a difference as far as pump brackets and pulleys right?
Engine size doesn't make any difference for column, steering box, ibeams, brake booster and master cylinder, right?

I'm putting a 351W in it, so not sure where that falls in that list.

However it came stock with a 352 in it.

Others will chime in to confirm but I don't think engine size in the donor will matter for you, although you'll need some V8 motor mount perches.

I already have those. The PO had a 351W in it, but it was bored .060 and was making all sorts of noise. I've bounced back and forth on going back with a 351W or a 390 but have decided on a 351W.

I'm just trying to find what list of trucks can I look for to get the PS, PB, and linkage from.

Ford changed the P/S pump in 1978 for cars, Bronco's and F100/350's, it's smaller in diameter and has a plastic reservoir. P/S pressure hose attaches to pump w/a qwik connect fitting.

1965/77 P/S pump has a steel reservoir, P/S pressure hose threads on.

So, if someone has a 1965/76 with an FE engine, will require the steel reservoir pump and brackets, because the FE P/S pump mounting brackets will not fit the plastic reservoir pump.

1981: First year 351W installed in F150/350 & Bronco. 1980 and later engine mounting parts will not work on 1965/79's.

If the OP wants to swap a 351W engine, will need 1969/79 F100 302 or 1975/79 F100/150 302 engine supports aka perches/towers/stands.

These supports are also the same as 1977/79 F100/350 351M/400 2WD

Thanks for the info, I already have the engine mounts for the 351W. I know by going with a later model 351W I will have to get a PS pump to match the engine. What I'm looking for is the PS gearbox, Power Brakes, and linkage, thats it, to put on the 66 F100. The motor mounts I already Have, and the PS Pump will have to match the new motor.

So what years, what trucks can I get the following list from, that will bolt onto my 66 F100

PS Gearbox
PS Linkage
PS Steering column
Spindles
PB Booster bracket
BP Booster

Sorry, but this is all I'm asking, what year of trucks can I get this list of parts from?

Well, what I would do,,, and have done, is find a complete 73-79 F150, and then swap over the whole I-beam/disc brake and steering assembly. Where are you located? Search CL and see if you can find a whole truck, take what you need and then sell the rest.

Thats what I'm trying to do, what I'm trying to find out is the list of models/years.

such as

F100 73-79
F 150 ??
F 250 ??
Bronco ??

So what models / years can I find these parts on. Yes I'm trying to find a donor truck, but I'm trying to find the list of trucks that will work first.
