2004 Ford Ranger revs the engine when you engage the clutch then when you place it in gear it's like the cruises on it wants to drive without you touching the Excelerator any ideas?

 

Throttle body issues, TPS issues, some kind of physical damage or interference with the throttle pedal and associated linkage or cable.

Do you have a CEL?

You may want to have codes pulled if you can not find a simple problem between the pedal and the throttle body.

 

There is no physical problem. I cleaned the throttle body and the mass airflow sensor and put it back together. It seems 80% better. I'm guessing the mass airflow sensor is going out?

 

That's why you read the codes.
