What Changes Would You Make To The Next Gen Super Duty?

Just kind of wishful thinking, but if Ford ever looks at these threads, it would be cool to compile a list of most desired changes to the next Super Duty by current owners of these trucks. What you put could be almost anything: mechanical, interior, functional, exterior, driveline, etc.

For me, I'd like to make sure Ford retains the solid axles, but improves the rear suspension. Too much sag in current gen F-250's, anyway. I don't really care if Ford stays with the C-channel frame or if they go boxed, but either way, a little less flex would be nice. Of course, better fuel economy. The clearance lights on the roof and in the mirrors should go LED. The 6.2L gas should be 400hp / 450lb-ft (I know this might cut more into diesel sales); and whichever engine, better fuel economy.

Thoughts?

Bring the trucks back to a true truck. No fancy tpms light garbage, or that traction control garbage that does nothing. They also need to stop with all this luxo-truck stuff. All it does is drive up prices and reduce quality. Look at GM.

I love my 96 because it's a simple workhorse that takes a load much better than my 2014. That's when they built trucks to work and haul heavy. I don't care about mpg and if you drive any 3/4 ton or heavier gas mileage needs to go out the window.

My 96 will outlast my 14, it's just built 10x better and with craftsmanship. All that fancy junk is just more stuff to break.

Maybe I'm too harsh but my first truck was an 89 F350 5 speed bare bones and it worked every day with no issues.

I miss when trucks used to be the cheapest thing to buy. It seems now even F250s are the new office cruisers.

Traction control and TPMS are never going away. Those are govt requirements. Your tax dollars at work. I could say all that stuff relating to my 79 F250.

I would like a manual transmission, but that will never come back either. A true XL (or custom as they used to say) bare bones; crank windows, manual everything with a decent V8 smaller than the 6.2 for $25,000. Trucks are rich people cars now and I don't think that will change either. Remember when you could get an F250 with a straight 6 that would out pull a V8? That would be sweet

Actually, only 'stability control' is a government requirement; but of course every automaker throws in traction control since it runs on all the same hardware and sensors. As with TPMS, these are only requirements in vehicles less than 10k GVWR. An F-250 can be at or below, so it may or may not be required. However, Ford throws it in the 250 and 350 since they are the same basic chassis.

I'd love to see a manual transmission option again, good point. Most people don't, however. I don't miss crank windows and manual door locks. Of course, the most bare bones of the XL trim line can still come equipped this way.

-no traction control
-no TPMS system
-no electric throttle body (give me a cable again!)
-king pin Dana 60 with spindle and standard bearings like the 97 older F350's
-manual transmission
-standard manual 4x4 (which is a option now i think)
-front LS diff and a rear selectable locker that doesn't shut off until i shut it off
-rear springs that don't sag like on the 10' up trucks (good going Ford)
-better rust protection (my GF'S 2008 Pontiac G6 looks BRAND NEW STILL)
-let me have turn/clearance/heated mirrors without having to get power windows and mirrors
-ill think of more LOL

You can still get the manual 4x4 shift, I have it and prefer it. Traction and especially TPMS don't bother me. Why are you so against TPMS? If you don't want it, then don't use it. At worst, you get a little orange light on.

The '97 and older F-350's used a Dana 50; although I would prefer the kingpin style of swivel as well.

I hear you on the mirrors. As for the traction devices; I am quite satisfied with Ford's e-locker and pleased they made such an option. I know it kicks out at >20mph; but then again, why would you be driving locked up at more than that speed? If you need to spin with the rear locked, use low range...no kick out.

But anyway, these are your thoughts so who am I to critique?

Keep 'em coming

2 things. A more fuel efficient V8 with more lower torque curve and a softer ride suspension. A button to push for daily drive around town and highway that would give you a softer ride and then press button to stiffen the suspension for towing/hauling.

Perfect, where do I sign? Also who cares about the ride, your buying a heavy duty truck made to tow. You want a soft ride and less towing capacity? buy an F150 or GM. Its a 3/4 -1 ton truck not a F@$&* sports car.
