Good Old-Timer mechanic for Carb/Vacuum issues (86 6cyl) in PA?

Does anyone know of a good place to go for carb/vacuum issues in the central PA area (anywhere between Stroudsburg and Lewisburg or even close)? I'm actually from CT, but have family in PA so I'd be willing to travel to the PA area too...

Anybody know of someone who's familiar with the older factory setups, I'm as good as any to swap parts, I'm hoping to find someone who's good with these older vacuum and carb'd setups for some fine tuning. The van is my everyday/everything truck. Any pointers would be very much appreciated, thanks!

What kind of problems are you having?

Im no expert in the carb department, but I know ethanol fuel sucks (most everything around me is up to 10%) and vacuum lines like to crack and break.

It's getting tough on some of this stuff. Once the current independent shops finally hang it up, forget it. You're on your own. The good thing is, the web sites that weren't around 20 or 40 years ago will teach you as much as you can handle about carb tuning or anything else. You need a tach and a vacuum gauge in addition to the usual tune up stuff.

well the first thing you can do it locate, photograph and post your VECI label (vehicle emissions control information) it lists every hose on that motor as installed for that cert, by the factory. Many a time I have used it to verify equipment, problems, restore 'expert' repairs.

as someone mentioned, parts are going to be hard to have...too many of these things have been smooshed and sent to china....

Are you having EGR or spark porting issues? (most common on the I6)

where is said label? Can be on the hood, air cleaner or radiator valence.

If you toss out a vin we might be able to work backwards and find a 'generic' one online.

Where in NY are you located?
I'm an old-timer mechanic but, not saying I'm good.

Good Mechanic

Hello, If you're making your way to Pennsylvania you can make a turnpike stop at Bowen carbouretor. Look them up on the internet. They are in Bucks County Pennsylvania just north of Philadelphia. They are wonderful mechanics. Call ahead of time. - Joe

86 is a feedback carb, check your engine codes first, you may have a sensor problem, not a carb problem.
