Welcome to FTE, ofd1510.

From the request, I gather that you have a 6.0L Power Stroke engine. You might want to ask the question in the 6.0L Power Stroke engine forum.

Why because they don't stink bad enough when they are running good, you need to contribute more toxic black soot to the air, just trying to get a feel for why you think this in necessary ...

Same reason we "burn rubber", shoot off fireworks or have a Saturday night bonfire during the warmer months.

It's fun.

Lets ease up a little bit, please. I'm pretty sure you can voice your displeasure without calling the practice stupid.

Quite honestly its actions like this that has lead to the strict regulations we have on the new diesels, people see these black spewing trucks and make lots of heat on the government who in turn put the heat on the automakers..

This is why there are DPF's and Urea systems on diesels now.

No its not! Big oil is in bed with automakers who are sleeping with the EPA. If a diesel got the 30mpg they are capable of, big oil makes less. EPA is a bunch of bunny huggers that think the black smoke is bad so they force automakers to eliminate it with this jacked up contraption that uses more fuel to get rid of it. Makes sense, cut fuel mileage, decrease black smoke trees are happy. It all started when soccer moms started buying diesels because they got better mileage than a gasser.

Now, this is irony. A bunch of guys who drive Super Duties, the scourge of all Prius owners, arguing about the environment.

ofd1510, Roll the coal
As far as I know the safest way is though a programmer. SCT seemed to be the one of choice when i had my 05. there was other method by removing a the turbo speed sensor wire not for sure but would not recommend unless you are willing to replace your turbo if it did overspeed.

I don't know about stricter regulation, we put a lot of pressure on the government to get better fuel mileage and 15 years later these trucks are not any more efficient. So that means rolling coal wont make a difference either. Remember now on the same line if you speed your wasting fuel too.

Roaling coal is the diesel equivalent of fast and furious hondas. It gains the diesel community negative publicity. Loud straight piped diesels and jack ***** doint idiotic stuff dosent help. To awnser your question you need to increase the fuel to the motor and reduce the air. Simply putting a walmart bag over the air filter should achieve this. The edge juice with attitude is a great tool for what you want just turn up the power level and plug away. Also a dirty airfilter will help. An older edge unit will likely work the best since they have likely detuned and re calibrated tuning to reduce smoke. You likely know more than me but given the design of the turbo being a vgt rolling coal is very counterproductive of its nessisary functions. It will cause sooty build up and require you to be proactive in mainting it as well as potentially damaging it. When you do get tired of rolling coal though we could fill you in on better tuning that focuses less on black smoke and more productive tuning that keeps the drivetrain together and makes some good power.
