would it be easier to update everything to OBD2? is it possible to put a mustang ecu in it and did the mustang come out with a AODE-W in it?

No and it's no advantage as it would still need to be tuned.

Yes it is possible to put a Mustang computer in a truck but the transmissions were not the same, 4R70w in trucks and AODE in cars.

ok. Please clear some confusion here for me please cz this has boggled my mind for along time. my trans id plate has stamped on it AODE/W is that a wide pattern AODE or is it a 4r70w? the trans code on the door panel is U. when i ordered my stage 1 trans they called it a AODE/W not a 4r70w. do you see my confusion? what exactly is a AODE/W trans? is it a diffrent name for a 4r70w trans or is it a diffrent transmission completely?

Yes there are lots of companies that refer to the 4R70w as an AODE-W, but that is annoyingly confusing for many because there is another AODE Ford transmission that is very different and was never used in trucks, so for the sake of clarity we always try to refer to it as a 4R70w around here.
