Why Did You Buy Your SuperDuty?

Bought my first one in 99 (new) because I wanted/needed it to pull a boat and camper. Camper never came so got rid of it. Bought my second one in 07 (used) to use for my business and just bought my third one (used) to replace the last one. Love these trucks plus everything I own is Oval Blue.

I just got mine. Can we say towing capacity. My one 2001 F150 had a tow capacity of 7100lbs and the old camper was 4500lbs. Our new camper is 7000lbs dry. The F150 could pull it but not very good. My neighbor pulled our camper with his F250 with no problems. My wife would not even think about letting me get a diesel so I went for the V10. Wow I love this truck.

I drag race also. I have ran a lot of places but like Bristol the best, especially fun ford weekend. I was running an 86 gt, but I just swapped everything over to an 83 coupe. It has a 1969 351w with a mild build, 5 speed and 4.56 gears. It ran a 12.5 @ 120 mph in the gt, but I'm hoping it will pick up a tenth or two by switching to a lighter car. What kind of car are you running?
To the OP. Sorry for the hijack, I just get excited to talk drag racing.

I bought mine to tow our camper, I did have a f-150, but I came across this truck and really liked it. I read stories about the 6.0 but I did my homework and check this truck from top to bottom. So I enjoy this truck as much as my motorcycle lol. Just saying awesome super duty.

I got mine because I'm going to run used motor oil in it as fuel at no cost. I drive 112 miles round trip & have access to used motor oil so my fuel costs will drop from $350+/month with a 4 cylinder car to less than $100/month with an F-250 Super Duty Crew Cab diesel. Gotta' love it! Did I mention that I drive 112 miles round trip to work everyday & I needed a vehicle that would last forever? Cue the 7.3L.

I started off with a Datsun mini-pickup in '78. It was always overloaded. Went to an F-150 in '83. It was always overloaded. Went with an F-250 in '87 and overloaded that frequently. Got an F-250 HD in '95. It would handle any load but towing was just OK. A tractor with backhoe made that poor 460 work very hard.
Picked up an '06 F-350 6.0. Have not managed to overload it yet. Tows just fine. The 6.0 has been problem-free and eats *far* less fuel than the 460 it replaced.

Hi,
I bought my F250 because...
After a long trip from NJ to FL, my wife and I realized the desire to own a larger tow vehicle. The F150 did the trip but there were a few moments in which it would have been really nice to have that larger vehicle. We plan on keeping our current trailer for at least several more seasons, which means the truck should be paid off when the time comes to upgrade to the larger trailer if we so choose. I was given the requirements of Crew Cab not Extended and towing capability within reason of the budget.
After the last long distance trip, the F250 turned out to be the better fit for us and the emergency it help salvaged the vacation it was attached to. The Crew Cab was a wise choice. The towing power was nicer overall than the F150.
After the truck bailing my folks out and how much nicer of the feel during towing, my wife and I feel the money spent on the truck so far has been well worth it. We now look forward to long trip adventures.
