I just replaced my steering gear box and it is leaking at the line closest to the fender. I didn't suspect it was cross threaded because it went on nice and smooth. Am I missing an o-ring or not doing something right?

 

The good news is I have power steering in both directions now.

 

Check to see if you tightened the connection fully.
Did you replace the line? or reuse the old one? Its possible the old line could be leaking.

I believe both lines are flare fittings at the gear box, so no o-ring needed.

 

Yeah I reused the old lines. I think I fixed the leak, I really put some torque on the line and I stared at it with the truck running for a few minutes with no leaks. It was really pissing before so I think I got it. I didn't want to strip it so I just left it kinda snug but I don't think that was enough.
